File Commander's Vault is the safe space for all your important files and folders. Password locked and encrypted, your files will be secure at all times and can be removed at any time, but only via Vault.
There are several ways to store a file in Vault, below we've detailed each:
Home tile
The Vault can be accessed via the icon, found in the quick-access tiles available on the
Home screen. Tapping on the icon will lead to a prompt where users will be required to enter their Password, PIN or Fingerprint to unlock. Once this is done, access will be granted and users may begin removing or storing files in Vault. Selecting files or folders is done by tapping on the
Browse icon at the bottom right corner of the screen.
Contextual menu
Tapping on the Contextual menu icon at the upper right corner of each file will show a drop-down menu housing the Move to Vault option. Tapping on it will prompt users to enter their Password, PIN or Fingerprint.
Side bar
Swiping from left to right, while in the Home page will open the side bar where the Vault feature is also accessible. After tapping on it follow the steps detailed in the section Home tile above.
Vault on SD Cards
Vaults can also be created for any SD Cards present on the device. Creating an SD Card Vault will free up valuable space on your device.
Any file stored in Vault will be encrypted. The file will not be visible or accessible in other ways, except via your PIN/Password/Fingerprint-protected Vault. We're using password-based encryption with standard algorithms, including AES and RSA. Keys are generated based on the password/pin, which is not stored anywhere and can not be recovered if lost.
As mentioned above, if your personal PIN/Password is forgotten, the Vault will need to be reset, thus deleting any files or folders stored there. Here's how this is done:
Important note: Users can only have one Vault per device or account.
Changing your Vault password or PIN occasionally is recommended to minimize the chances of it being discovered. To do so just enter the Vault menu and tap on the Contextual menu at the upper right corner of the screen. There you'll find the
Change PIN/Password option.
Alternatively, you can use the Unlock with Fingerprint toggle, found above the
Change PIN/Password option, to connect your device's Fingerprint Unlock credentials to Vault.
